The 19th International DSM Conference will take place at the Aalto Design Factory of the Aalto University in Finnland.
Aalto University is Finland’s second largest University and was established in 2010 as a merger of three major Finnish universities (Helsinki University of Technology, Helsinki School of Economics and the University of Art and Design Helsinki). It intends to foster close collaboration between the scientific, business and arts communities for multi-disciplinary education and research. The university host around 20,000 students and 4,500 staff members.
The Design Factory provides a physical as well as a mental environment designed for supporting interdisciplinary learning and co-creation. It is a platform for experimental problem-based learning to promote better learning outcomes as well as enable experiments in industry-university collaboration. It provides a non-hierarchical, constantly developing collaboration environment for students, teachers, researchers and business practitioners across hierarchical, professional, and disciplinary boundaries. Aalto Design Factory is also a part of the Design Factory Global Network, a family of 13 Factories on five continents, which drive change in their home institutions towards a better learning culture and borderless collaboration.
